The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel Hits the United States

November 22, 2012

German engineers have been using the diesel engine for years. As one of the most popular engine types in Europe, diesel engines are still rare for the United States, but this is all about to change. Chevrolet has announced their release of the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel. This four-door compact sedan will hit the markets early 2013 and showcase the diesel engine as a new alternative to Chevy drivers. Want to see the Cruze yourself? GM has not made a passenger diesel model since the early 1980’s, but this eagerly awaited model was finally announced just last week by GM authorities. Not only was the announcement made, but GM has released a few additional facts for buyers who are interested in the model. Early in 2013, the Chevrolet Cruze will be released as a 2014 car. Since it will have a short model life, the Cruze will be redesigned and redeveloped in 2015. In order to certify the use of a European diesel engine, the new Cruze will have to have significant developments by 2015 if it wants to certify itself again.

The new Cruze will feature a 2.0-liter direct injected turbo diesel and use an emission control system to make it compliant for United States environmental protection agencies. The model will operate similar to that of the BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen models that are currently sold within the United States, but operate with a European turbo diesel engine. Currently the biggest issue the Cruze has before its launch is finding a way to quiet the engine. Right now GM has reported that the engine is significantly louder than other models – due to its size. When the Cruze releases, where will you be?
