One Year Out, Winning Color Crowned: The Volt Is Looking Good

December 2, 2009

The Chevrolet Volt, Chevy’s closely watched and extremely exciting extended range electric vehicle, is just a year away from production. That the Volt is being watched so carefully, and its development being made so public, this early in the process is unique in the industry.

Here are some highlights of the Volt’s journey so far:

  • A full charge will power the Volt for 40 miles, emissions and gas free, then a gas engine will kick in and power the Volt for hundreds of miles more.
  • 80 pre-production Volts have been built
  • Every day drivers have test driven 300,000 miles

And less technical but still fun, Chevy yesterday announced the results of a contest to name the distinct metallic green paint unique to the Volt. Three leading colors—EV-ergreen, environMINT, and Viridian Joule—were put to a public vote, and Viridian Joule was the winning color.

You needn’t wait a year for the Volt to enjoy fuel efficient Chevy vehicles from Jessup Auto Plaza, where we proudly serve Palm Springs, Indio, Calimesa, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Banning, Beaumont, Yucaipa, Indio, and other communities near our Cathedral City GM dealership.
