Awarded by the GM Service Technical College, the World Class Technician status is presented to those who have reached the highest level of professional development through the GM program.  It’s an opportunity that validates the knowledge of the recipient and allows them to demonstrate their skills to both employers and customers.  Service technicians achieve the GM World Class Technician status after they’ve completed eight out of nine GM Master Technician Certifications in the mechanical area, besides an accompanying ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification.

Cadillac has been reporting that their new ATS will establish a brand new reputation for a top performance sedan.  And from the looks of the 2013 ATS, this car might just have what it takes.  View the walkthrough video here.  Real leather seating on the inside with real wood trim takes it to another level, as does the CUE infotainment system with a capacitive, innovative touch-sensitive center stack featuring an 8-inch touch screen.  Every touch-sensitive button on the system is equipped with haptic feedback (vibration) so you know what and where to press.  It’s the luxury sedan you’ve always wanted, except with a Cadillac badge and a lowered price tag.  Powerful engines will be offered in different versions of the ATS, ranging from a 2.5L, 4-cylinder to a 3.6L V6.  Both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be available.

The USA-based GM sales boss is revealing that the truck plants will be re-tooled during a scheduled shutdown in 2012.  Although the shutdown will begin this year, GM will start building their next-generation Silverado and Sierra models in 2013. When they launch, the next generation trucks will be official 2014 models.

During the 2012 media event, Cadillac will be demonstrating the Cadillac User Experience, an in-vehicle comprehensive experience that brings together industry design with automotive industry-first commands and controls for infotainment data.  Cadillac will also be discussing the research methods that were behind the creation of the CUE.

OnStar, right next to Cadillac in January’s Consumer Electronics Show, will be collaborating with Verizon Wireless and their advanced 4G LTE network to focus in on the in-vehicle experience that will relate to streaming content sharing for all the vehicle passengers.  OnStar will be debuting prototypes of their application and demonstrate them in a Chevrolet Volt research vehicle.  This will include a Cloud-based streaming of entertainment as well as information content, throughout the entire vehicle; video chat; and a rear seat infotainment management system.  It’s highly advanced for today’s vehicles, but fit right in with the electronic expectations of today’s active commuter.

The Chevy Performance LSX Challenge Series experienced a first full season in 2011, and it was a major success.  Ever since Chevrolet announced that it would run a 2012 LSX Challenge Series, competition has been high.  There’s a new $250 award in the pot for 2012, too.  Chevrolet Performance plans to award the fastest racers of each class in the Challenge Series the extra $250 if they win while using a GM Performance Parts LSX Bowtie Block.

The 2012 LSX Challenge Series will be in the same format of five classes: LSX All Motor, LSX Drag Radial, LSX Rumble (index), LSX Real Street, and the very popular class, 5th Generation Camaro Challenge.  Chevrolet’s best engines will be in the racer’s streetcars.  The first opening dates for the Challenge Series begin March 15 to March 18 in Florida.
